Honest Physiotherapy Clinic
This letter is written in recommendation of Goldwing Construction Inc, who we contracted in November 2020 to begin the build of a major home-based business. We had interviewed several companies as candidates for this work and were most impressed by the communication during this tender period, the timeliness of their application, as well as their price point.
Both Mark and Patti took the time to meet with us (safely, of course, given the extent of COVID precautions at the time), and get a feel for the space and our conceptual idea. They talked us through the permit applications process, what the build would look like and how they coordinate with our designer and trades, and gave us assurance that they would meet the tender deadline. They hand delivered their application on the day (two others handed them in late, one didn't even bother handing one in), gave us ample documentation and outline of what their budget and project would entail, and were very reasonable with their final price point. We were incredibly happy with their proposal and set off together on this project.
The permitting process was admittedly arduous, though this was more the City's issue during COVID. Patti was spectacular in this period, helping to navigate and ease our anxieties during the period of wait. It was difficult to watch for months an open space that we had cleared out not go anywhere, but Patti was patient and encouraging, calming our fears and nerves. Once our permits cleared several months later (it felt like an eternity), Patti created a timeline that they stuck to incredibly closely, outlining when the trades would be in and the process to completion.
We had the opportunity to work with Sean - our foreman on site - who was knowledgeable, friendly, and explained every part of the process. He would provide us with regular updates on who was coming in that day, and at the end of the day would summarize what was completed and what was outstanding. Understandably, trades are inconsistent which is somewhat the reality of construction, but Goldwing was quick to make up for any problems or uncertainties that were encountered. We had difficulties with our concrete completion and Goldwing went out of their way to contract trades to come in on a long weekend to finish by the Christmas break. We were nervous and irritated at the time, but in retrospect it was handled with professionalism and creativity. Sean had a fantastic eye and kept vigilant about any inconsistencies in the project, pointing out any perceived flaws he noticed like our backsplash or our front desk construction, and was quick to notify the trades to fix these without us even asking. The quality control, communication, and accountability that Goldwing demonstrated was astounding.
Goldwing worked closely with our designer during this entire process, making sure that the vision we had in our heads and in our initial drawings became a reality. They had regular meetings, discussed the project at length, and ensured that the concept was realized in its entirety. Despite having not working together prior to this project, they collaborated well and worked together professionally.
We are so very pleased with the final product and have been happily open for business for a month. Any minor problems that we've had during our soft open has been fixed immediately, working around our patient schedule, such as changing out flickering lights or completing forgotten baseboards. No project is every 100% smooth, but the difference with Goldwing is that they are accountable to their word and complete any outstanding items you are not totally happy with promptly. They hit the budget almost exactly, and the timeline was spot on with only a 3 day delay due to concrete issues which were non foreseeable (which in construction basically means they finished ahead of schedule!). At the end it was delightful to have Mark come by at the end to punctuate the end of the project, to check in on it in person and give a distanced imaginary handshake to close the build and create agreeable symmetry to the start of the project.
We are so happy with the entire process and experience and would be more than happy to recommend Goldwing for any future projects. Thank you for making the build process for new, fledgling business owners a positive experience.
