SMA Consulting is an engineering firm that was expanding rapidly and also desired to not rent a space but rather purchase our own building. Being new to asset management we needed to develop and take care of our building both routinely and for our staffs needs. We used several other contractors to fix smaller items on the building at first but was never really satisfied with the quality or the care that those contractors invested in their work.
SMA Consulting has used Goldwing Construction now for the past 5 years for a number of renovation projects. We initially hired them to do a renovation for our upper floor to open up some common space and make more enclosed offices around the perimeter of the building. Modifications to the ceiling HVAC system, structure, and aesthetics were made. These were performed prior to us occupying the building, and needed to be on a tight schedule for us to move in to the building at our low season to not disrupt our business, while also for us to finish our renting term with our extending additional time. Needless to say Goldwings construction schedule was on time and their quality and personal touch and care that they put in to their finished product is outstanding and allowed for us to have a perfect transition.
We next used Goldwing Construction for an exterior renovation that we went through our insurance company for. High winds had damaged our exterior and we were unable to get the same matching product. We hired Goldwing through our insurance claim to not only do the construction but also design us a new modern exterior finish for our building. Goldwing came up with the products and design to not only make our building look extremely elegant and modern, but also fix hidden damage and restore the building so that we didn’t have further issues later on.
We then hired Goldwing to do a more intensive renovation of our entire main floor where we worked with them to design our new floor plan to add an extra board room and expand our main board room, and also fit in more office space without changing the structural footprint of our building. Goldwing came up with the design, priced it, scheduled it, and completed the entire project on the schedule and budget that we originally agreed upon. Goldwing also did all this work while we occupied and had our staff working on our upper floor. They were not disruptive and didn’t impede our business in any way. Loud disruptive work was actually scheduled for us to be aware of and all utility shut downs were done off business hours for us to keep our business going. Our end product is stunning glass walled office spaces and full glass walled boardrooms with extremely modern accents and finishes.
We then most recently hired Goldwing to install brand new RTU units after our RTU started failing. This required heavy HVAC duct modifications in all our newly renovated buildings. At the same time Goldwing also coordinated doing a brand new roof at the same time as the RTU install. They also designed and set up stand alone heat pump and HRV units for our main boardroom. This work was completed during COVID -19 and Goldwing maintained our original schedule and budget while also having outstanding health and safety management through this event to not only keep their workers safe, but our staff as well.
Through all of these projects it was very easy to come to Goldwing and ask them for updates, modifications, and also to talk through after thoughts that I had with them. I probably am a very picky client and Goldwing managed all of my expectations and exceeded every one of them on all of these projects. We are an engineering project management firm that professionally maintains budgets and schedules for very large design and construction projects, and I was very impressed that Goldwing was able to hit all of their schedule milestones and completion dates. As an owner I was also happy for all of our budgets being met and no scope creep needing to be allowed. I also trust Goldwing so much that we gave them keys to our office while we were not at work during COVID-19 as we mandated our staff to work from home. Goldwing looked after our building and finished the project in the agreed upon schedule and budget while I was occasionally visiting to check in. Their attention to detail and quality was truly remarkable and they are the only contractor I have known to care about the design and the quality of the end product as if it were their own. For all these reasons we are very happy to have Goldwing construction as our exclusive contractor that we will go back to for any other project that may come up in our future and we highly recommend them to anyone and everyone else. Excellent contractors are very hard to find and we are very happy to have Goldwing construction.
